Unread Dots in Gmail: A Game-Changer?
Imagine opening your Gmail app and seeing a bold, colorful dot next to the sender's name and subject line. That's exactly what Google is introducing for Android users. This unread dot, themed with Dynamic Color, will be a prominent indicator, making it easier to spot new messages at a glance.
But here's the catch: it's not available to everyone yet. The update is rolling out server-side, so it might take some time before you see it on your device.
Old vs. New: A Visual Comparison
Take a look at the difference: the new Gmail interface places each email in a more noticeable container, thanks to the Material 3 Expressive design. It's a subtle change, but it makes a big impact on usability.
And this is the part most people miss: Google Tasks is also getting a major upgrade with deadlines!
Google Tasks: Setting Deadlines, Not Just Reminders
Say goodbye to vague reminders and hello to precise deadlines. Google Tasks now allows you to set specific deadlines for your tasks, in addition to date/time reminders. You'll find the "Add deadline" option right above the existing "Add date/time" on the details page.
However, there's a twist: these deadlines don't appear in Google Calendar or the Google Tasks homepage on Android. They're currently visible on tasks.google.com, suggesting that this feature might still be in the works. One notable limitation: you can't specify a time for your deadlines.
We're seeing these deadline features rolled out across Google Tasks for Android and the web, and you can even add them when creating tasks in Google Calendar.
